In drilling operations, typical solids control equipment discards 1-4 barrels of liquid for each barrel of solids removed. Studies have shown the Vertical Dryer and the associated system can recover one bbl of fluid, for each 2.5 bbls of solids exiting the Vertical. This recovery is measured after processing through the solid bowl decanting centrifuge.
The Vertical effluent contains a percentage of low gravity fine solids that should be treated by a polishing decanting type centrifuge before the mud can be returned to the active system. This may not be necessary in all conditions. The Vertical Dryer screen bowl is available with mesh openings from .008 in. to .020 in. (70 mesh to 30 mesh).
Other than the Vertical Dryer itself, other equipment could include a support stand and a high-speed centrifuge with feed pump and stand. Additional equipment may include the feed system, whether auger, vacuum transfer system, or positive displacement feed pump package.
Installation time varies greatly with conditions and is dependent on many things, most importantly a proper survey prior to installation. Installation time is achievable within 24-48 hours if no hot work is needed.
